"Its Not Just a Job, Its a Vocation"
I was born in the South of England and began dancing at age 2. My formative training was undertaken at Barling Magna Studios, Essex under Patricia Prime, former senior examiner, and chairlady of the Imperial Classical Ballet. During this period, I was also selected to train as an Associate of the Royal Ballet School, London. At age 16, and after my family relocated to the North of England, I went on to study at the Northern Ballet School, Manchester where I gained a diploma in Professional Dance and Teaching qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), and the Royal academy of Dance (RAD).
In 1990 I founded “East Lancs School of Dancing “, providing ISTD Grades and Vocational classes in Ballet, Modern and Tap and RAD Vocational classes. While running the school continued my professional development as a ballet teacher by extending my qualifications through to Licentiate and then Fellowship with the Imperial Classical ballet. Over the last 10 years I have expanded my teaching role, I have become an Imperial Classical Ballet examiner, acting as an ambassador for the ISTD while supporting the training and development of young dancers. I have also joined the faculty at Preston College Dance, delivering classes on the Professional Dancers Course and the BA hons Degree Teaching, Performance and Choreography, both courses focus on training young dancers and teachers to professional standards ready for continuation into the dance industry.

I can’t imagine a world without Dance! For me Dance is a necessity, a way of life, a passion, and one of the greatest loves of my life! I have been so lucky to be able to follow my dreams and make a life out of doing something I love, and I am forever thankful for that.
Whether you choose dance as a hobby or a career it takes you on a journey both physically and emotionally, it is a fantastic outlet for both, it builds self-awareness, perseverance, resilience, discipline, and nurtures so many other valuable life skills that benefit you in a wealth of areas throughout life.
Dance remains with you forever!
What I love about my job
My greatest pleasure is being part of and supporting the development of the young dancers I teach.
I endeavour to bring the best out in all of the students I teach, no matter what their ability, or how often they attend class, seeing them progress into capable, confident performers and young people gives me the most amazing job satisfaction!
Hobbies outside of dance
When I’m not busy being a mum to my two children and my furbaby Wilson the dog, I enjoy walking, gardening, baking, travel, music, reading and being outdoors.
